Sock Yarn Shawls

My super talented friend Jen just got her first book published! She has been designing knitting patterns for a few years now and decided she wanted to write a book and made it happen. Sock Yarn Shawls is now available for purchase, if you are a knitter or know a knitter you are going to want this book. So many beautiful patterns!

I was so excited to help Jen out with knitting a sample for the book. A few months ago she emailed me and said that the shawl I knit was going to be on the cover! I am still super excited about this, it's so cool to look at the cover and think, "hey, I made that!"

My name is even in the back of the book, so fun!

Monkey Socks at Sea!

Before we left on vacation my Aunt requested a pair of socks. She sent the yarn (Lorna's Laces Simply Sock in the Sublime colorway) and I picked out the Monkey Sock pattern from Cookie A. It is one that I have wanted to make for a while now and it was so fun to knit.

I loved knitting this pattern so much that I am currently making a pair for myself!

Our little balcony somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean was the perfect place for a photo shoot!

The Other Hobby

Since it is a gray and rainy day here I thought the perfect thing to do would be to blog about something warm and cozy. I do a lot of knitting, I am just bad about sharing it here with all of you. Must get better about that!

This past Christmas I knit my friend Shannon this scarf. She had been joking with me for quite some time about getting something hand knit. Saying things like "do I have to get pregnant to get something knit from you, because I will" I figured it was time to make her something.

The perfect lacy scarf for those Southern California winters! It is the Lacy Ribbon Scarf from Knitty a few years ago. It was such a fun knit too.

Weekend Recap

1. Friday night I got the urge to make a pair of mittens. I think all of the snow is getting to me! So I started this and finished up the first mitten and started the second, which I hope to finish tonight.


2. I saw the movie 127 Hours. All I can say is that James Franco has been robbed this awards season, he was amazing. A truly great movie.

3. We got a new t.v. A flat screen that is huge. It was fun watching the super bowl yesterday on the giant t.v. even though football isn't really my thing.

4. It snowed again! Only an inch or so on Sunday but we don't really need anymore. Is it Spring yet?

5. I finished reading the book Sloppy Firsts that my friend Shannon recommended and just started the second in the series. Its a YA book, but sometimes those are better and more fun to read. The characters are great and I can't wait to read what happens next.

So that was my weekend, not bad for staying in for the most part. Hope you had a great weekend too.

Candlelight Shawl

So the last few months were filled with knitting projects and this gorgeous Candlelight Shawl was one of the things I was working on. My super talented friend Jen designed this pattern for Kollage yarns and the pattern is out now!

I was one of the lucky ones who got to test knit this beautiful shawl and send it off to the company for photos.

I love the design, it was a great pattern, not too hard but fun enough to keep interested while knitting.

The Cutest Thing I Have Ever Made

I made these baby booties last month for a gift and just loved how they came out, they are so cute and a super quick knit. I might have to make a few more for some other friends now.

I found the perfect rose buttons at the store and I love how they finished them off just perfectly. If you are on Ravelry you can find the pattern for free here.

I have been busy knitting up a storm lately but will have to share all of those projects after Christmas!

Sometimes She Finishes Knitting Projects...

Happy August! This summer sure is flying by. Today I want to share a knitting project that I finished last month for my best friend Jen who just had the most adorable baby girl ever (as a proud Aunt, I tell this to everyone!). I wanted the blanket I made to be something special, so when my friend Jenni made this blanket, I knew I had to make one too.
The pattern is from the Debbie Bliss Spring/Summer 2010 magazine. If you are on ravelry, here is the link for all the pattern info.
It was a lot of fun to make and even more fun to give in person when I got to see them a few weeks ago!

Finally Finished a Knitting Project!

So I actually have some knitting to share! It seems like months have gone by and I haven't finished a knitting project at all. Meet Ishbel, a beautiful shawl pattern that I found via my friend Jen. She mentioned the pattern and I went and looked at it and had to have one!
It is currently sitting on our living room floor being blocked but should be dry soon, and now that it is starting to feel like fall here I am sure I will get to wear it very soon.
It was actually a really quick knit, I finished it in about a week which was nice since I haven't been doing a lot of knitting in the past month. More projects to share soon!

Finished a project finally!

Finally, after what seemed like forever I finished a knitting project! These socks were fun to make and I am still in love with the color yellow right now. Perfect for all of the gray days we have been having here.
And they have this great cable detail up the sides, which was a lot of fun to do!

Another project...

So I started another project...This is the start of a mystery sock pattern which means that you only get a little bit of the pattern at a time. What you see above is the toe of the sock, and you can't tell but along each side it has cables. Add this to the ever growing list of current projects that I should probably not start until something else is finished.

The Sweater

Here lies my first sweater! Except imagine if you will that along the right side a row of 10, yes 10 white buttons because I am to lazy to take another picture at this point.  I have worn it once and absolutely love it, I just need to take some pictures the next time I wear it!

It would have been finished in a month but I have an aversion to finishing things so it took three to complete. I really didn't want to sew on all the buttons!
