Botanic Garden Visit

Last weekend we took advantage of the amazing weather and spent the afternoon walking around the Botanic Garden.
Beautiful fall flowers were all over the place.

The waterfall gardens are one of my favorite places.
There was also a Dahlia show over the weekend with some of the biggest flowers I have ever seen!

Such a gorgeous day!

iPhone Photo Love

Just thought I would share some of my favorite iPhone photos from the past few months.

I got a little carried away taking photos of Cinderella's castle when we were waiting for the parade at Disney World in September.

Happy Monday!

Weekend Recap

1. Friday night I got the urge to make a pair of mittens. I think all of the snow is getting to me! So I started this and finished up the first mitten and started the second, which I hope to finish tonight.

2. I saw the movie 127 Hours. All I can say is that James Franco has been robbed this awards season, he was amazing. A truly great movie.

3. We got a new t.v. A flat screen that is huge. It was fun watching the super bowl yesterday on the giant t.v. even though football isn't really my thing.

4. It snowed again! Only an inch or so on Sunday but we don't really need anymore. Is it Spring yet?

5. I finished reading the book Sloppy Firsts that my friend Shannon recommended and just started the second in the series. Its a YA book, but sometimes those are better and more fun to read. The characters are great and I can't wait to read what happens next.

So that was my weekend, not bad for staying in for the most part. Hope you had a great weekend too.

Snow Day

We survived the blizzard last night! It's hard to tell how much we got because of all the wind, some spots are taller than others. We took a quick walk around the block just to see how deep it was.
They have been cleaning up this one spot around the park all day, this doesn't bode well for the rest of the town.
I hope that it is warm and sunny where you are!

My desk looks something like this...

But I have gotten a lot done this way so I guess it's not all bad.

drinking: dr pepper
wearing: comfy sweats
wondering: how much snow we will get tomorrow
weather: cold and cloudy
feeling: tired of winter
thinking: about what to start working on next
wishing: it was April already

Renegade Craft Fair

The Renegade Craft Fair was in town over the weekend. We headed downtown on Sunday to check it out for the first time. The weather was lovely and we saw a lot of great artists showcasing their goods. I even picked up a few things that I love and got some great ideas of things I want to make now.

I got some fun prints from Jill M. Connor, you can find her great stuff here.

I got this great vampire mouse print!

I also bought some stationary from Circle Street. Her Etsy shop is here, not much in it right now but hopefully there will be more soon!

The fair was a lot of fun, I can't wait to go again next year. Check out my friend April's pictures here!

Monday Favorites

Getting back to blogging after a week away is hard so I figured I would start out with some things that I am loving right now.

1. I am loving the new song and video from Kings of Leon, I can't wait until I can buy it!

2. We went to the Renegade Craft Fair yesterday and it was awesome, I will do a post on that tomorrow including some fun stuff that I bought.

3. The Studio Calico September kit, the colors are wonderful and there are still some left, I highly recommend it.

4. Pumpkin Spice Lattes and cooler weather. I think that we should have Fall until it is Spring and skip that whole messy Winter thing.

5. The entire Mumford & Sons album, I can't stop listening to it.  I saw them at Lollapalooza in August and fell in love.

6. My friend Jen just created another fabulous shawl pattern that I can't wait to knit. See it here. She is also doing a sock yarn club, her yarn is wonderful and this is something you won't want to miss!

7. This new ribbon from Maya Road is beautiful.

8. Last week I got to play with sidewalk chalk and blow bubbles, it was wonderful.

9. Still in love with the colors yellow, grey and teal.

10. Feeling creative again after not doing anything for a week is a wonderful feeling.

Time to go make something fun, what are you loving this week?

Weekend in Photos!

My Grandparents came for a visit over the weekend, it was so great to see them since it only happens a few times a year. We headed out on the train on Saturday to take a boat ride downtown. The weather was a little foggy and cool but much nicer than it has been recently!

I spent a lot of time looking up, at the trees, buildings and how the fog was rolling out of the city. I love how these photos turned out, I need to remember to look up more often!

Back soon with some projects that I have been working on, hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

New York, New York!

We spent the weekend before my birthday in lovely NYC! We saw a lot of shows in a short amount of time and had a lot of great food! The first day we were in town the weather was perfect for a stop off in Central Park. (click on photos to see them bigger)
We ate a lot of Pinkberry, something that we used to get when we lived in LA.
Our first show was Promises, Promises with Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes and it was a great show! It was so fun to see Kristen in a show after seeing her in concert several times.
After the show we waited for autographs, it is my new favorite thing to do after shows!
We even talked to Kristin for a little bit about seeing her in LA a few times, she was so nice and friendly, it made my day!
Day 2 we did some walking around and stopped in Rockefeller Plaza. The ice skating rink was still up and so were these fun flower displays.

That night we saw the play Lend Me a Tenor, which was hilarious! It had Justin Bartha, Tony Shalhoub and Anthony LaPaglia in it, and again we waited for autographs, they were all very nice.

And the last show we saw was American Idiot which is based on the Green Day album. It was an amazing show! Definitely one that has been added to my favorites list! It was fun to talk to all the cast members after the show and take some pictures.
It was a great weekend and probably one of my favorite trips to the city!

On This Day in History...

I can't believe it has been 5 years to the day since we graduated from college! It seems like only yesterday that we were waking up together, talking and laughing!
We may all live in different places now, but I still call these girls my best friends. Can't wait to see what the next 5 years brings for all of us because these last 5 sure have been crazy!

4. I finished knitting my Lady Elenore shawl last week and couldn't be more pleased that it is finished. I will take some pictures and share that one in a few days.

5. In other knitting news, I started making my friend a baby blanket and I can't wait to finish it to see how it looks.

6. I have been having fun putting things on my tublr page. It is like a blog but I have been using it as a place to keep track of fun pictures I find around the Internet.

7. It was so nice out today that I just got back from a walk. Now I realize that I need to start working out more...

8. My favorite scrapbooking thing right now is the new Dear Lizzy line from American Crafts. It is fun and springy and just lovely!

10. Now that the sun is out I plan on taking pictures and posting some items in my Etsy store very soon, so be sure to check back here to find out the details!

Can't Believe it's almost Christmas!

I can't believe that Christmas is next week! So much to do before then and so little time. Today I have to get all of my gifts purchased and send out all of the Christmas cards I finished making yesterday.

I also need to get working on my December Daily album. I have a week's worth of pages to finish since we were on the cruise last week. I also need to work on my trip album, still trying to figure out how I want to put that together...

No real projects to share yet, hope to have some pictures of some finished things by the weekend. So for now I will leave you with this picture.

Have you finished all of your shopping yet?

Jen's Bridal Shower

So last weekend this is what I did in LA. My friend Jen is getting married in September so her sister's and I threw her a bridal shower. We did all the decorations ourselves and we loved how it turned out.
Cute table decorations that we created. Jen loved them so much she might use them for the cake reception they are having at their church after the wedding.

We had a lot of fun with her family and friends and it was a great afternoon even though it got a little warm!
Here is everyone playing some games that we had set up.
And her cake that matched the invitations that I created for the party.
I love this picture of Jen and her Mom, too cute!
Michele, Jen's Mom, Jen and Melanie all the girls in the family.
Melanie, Jen and I after the party. It was a busy trip but a lot of fun!
